Palm Island Resort is a little island off the coast of Southwest Florida. As a child, my family and I would vacation here for 10-14 days during July and August for many years. The last time I was at Palm Island Resort was about 15 years ago. Dave has heard me talk about this fabulous vacation spot and so we finally booked a trip to go back and visit. It was a four hour drive from our place and we just went for the weekend. It ended up being unusually cold for the time of year, but we had a blast anyway. It warmed up by the afternoon. So many things about the island remained the same i.e. the quiet atmosphere, not having motorized vehicles allowed, having the option to rent bikes/golf carts/kayaks and all the villas looked the same just updated. One thing that seemed different was that you could take the car ferry over and park your car on the island before entering the resort; many years ago you had to take the boat over and leave the car on the mainland. Now you have the option to do either. The sunsets were just as pretty as I remembered them and the seafood was so amazing! Palm Island is 7 miles long and has 11 tennis courts and 5 swimming pools. It has one restaurant on the island as well as one general store and a little coffee/ice cream shop (this is new to me). Here are a few pictures from out short romantic getaway!
